Region 11 July 2009 Meeting Minutes

Meeting given by Tiny and called to order.  Apologies for Russ & Terry being unable to attend.  Guests welcomed and pledge conducted.  Dollar attendance winner drawn.  Minutes written by Terry’s agenda for Tiny and some notes Debbie made for her.  

Treasury Report: Given by Al.  Also discussed past observation run.  Region made a nice profit.

Legislative: Helmet bill, HB 4747 is status quo.  Still in need of info from members on how their house rep stands.  House rep Kim Meltzer will be out with a guest at the August meeting.  Guest will be discussing an inflatable safety vest and wanting feedback from motorcyclists.  Abate lawsuit against the state police had a hearing on 7-30-09.  Hearing is to determine if the case will proceed and if so, which court it will proceed in.  Any campaign fundraisers you come across, please let Alice or Russ know.

Upcoming Events: Region 11 Dryden meeting on 8-11.  Trying a steak out that night for $7.50.  Region bikes in the park set for 10-10.  On 10-3 is a benefit for us by Leatherworks in the form of a colors run.  COC meeting is 8-7.  Those interested, meet at Fat Catz at 696 and Vandyke, and leave 7:00 PM for Brighton.  Riley HOH has 2 parties in September.  On the 12^th is their beef bash and on the 19th is the mega style party.

New Business:  10 pounds of tabs turned in for Tabman from Izzy with Michigan Dressers, thank you Izzy.  Keep Rich and Carol in your thoughts, her mom passed away.  Rich is trying to get a Texas holdem event happening, following through with the rules and paperwork.  Register to vote if you’re not already.  Still time so you can vote in November.  Members discussed the $5.00 off membership discount we offered in July.  Do we want to continue for the month of August?  Region pays the difference to the state.  Members voted and all but 1 favored to try it again.
