Region 11 June 2008 Meeting Minutes

Meetings called to order. Guests welcomed. At Russ's request, Abe Lawson conducted the June meeting. He also supplied the meeting minutes

Treasury Report: Given by Al.

Legistlative: Open discussion on safety classes and an article in the AMA magazine titled "Do you wear a helmet?" Members discussed the pros and cons. Find out whose running for office in your area. Contact them and find out their positions on motorcycle related issues. Get the info to Russ and Alice. State police supported our helmet bill due to revenue they would get from the fees, but Granholm still vetoed it.

Chris discussed the RC meeting held at the state fieldmeet. Nothing new was brought up. Region 11 asked to work the Fostoria event. Our members, Magilla, Carol, Pigpen, Nuggett, LH and Chris all volunteered to work it. Thank you. Revenue raised for the region.

New Business: Tammy discussed a party possible autumn moon campout. Date still open but looking at mid August. Tammy & Detour volunteered their place. Abe asked to table discussion since the committee chair was not present. Instead, Bruce motions for the region to purchase insurance for the party. Supported by Whiz. Motion passed in New Baltimore.

Broomstick pool tournament date set for November 9th.

Al stated that he sent emails to Senator Gilbert and house rep Dan Acciavaitti thanking them for their support on our helmet bill and hoping they'll support again if an override vote takes place. Suggest that all members do the same with their senator and house rep.
